BSI achieves accreditation from UKAS to certify organizations to new ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards
04 November 2015
BSI, the business standards company, has become one of the first certification bodies to receive the official UK accreditation status from The United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) for the new Environmental Management Systems Standard, ISO 14001:2015 and the new Quality Management Systems Standard, ISO 9001:2015. This adds to BSI’s previous accreditation status from DAkkS in Germany and global accreditation from ANAB.
To gain accredited status, BSI’s processes were independently reviewed utilizing the revised ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 standards, which published on 15 September and 23 September. To ensure BSI operates at the highest level of quality and service, UKAS conducted a rigorous programme including witnessed assessments which provides assurance to clients that the certificates issued to them, are both credible and impartial. BSI is now able to issue UK accredited certificates to the new version of both standards to its clients.
The revised version of the standards feature a new high level structure (HLS) which includes common text, terms and definitions which will now be used for all management system standards. Previously, it has taken a lot of time and resources having more than one system to implement and certify, so this new structure will allow easier integration for organizations.
Andrew Launn, Service Delivery Director, BSI said: “ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 are two of the world’s leading standards, therefore we’re very proud to achieve accreditation from UKAS. We have invested heavily in making sure that we provide our clients with the best service possible to transition early to these new business improvement standards and its excellent to be able to give this assurance to our clients.”
